Close to 25,000 Lost Electricity in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Severe Weather Systems
Around 25,000 homes in southeastern Queensland woke up experiencing outages on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms impacted the state, generating wind gusts reaching 109 kilometers per hour.
Substantial Ice Stones and Widespread Impact
Residents reported large ice chunks as large as 7cm in certain regions. The Bureau of Meteorology confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been impacted by large hailstones.

Emergency crews were focused on reestablishing electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews working to address the numerous electricity disruptions.
Victorian Climate Difficulties
At the same time, around 1,000 residents in the southern state also faced power outages after the capital city experienced its heaviest rainfall in 18 months.
Emergency response teams handled nearly 600 emergency reports across the state, primarily for building damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

- The Werribee area - saw substantial destruction
- Hoppers Crossing area - numerous assistance requests
- Wyndham area - 179 calls for assistance
At one point on Sunday, over 28k energy customers in the state were experiencing outages.
Weather Forecast
Moist weather were forecast to persist along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
Tomorrow was predicted as the most rainy day, with ongoing storm activity anticipated across multiple regions of both regions.
Health Warning
Health officials warned that there was an increased chance of weather-related respiratory issues across the state's northern country region, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.
This warning comes after past events where similar conditions led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
